About five years ago I purchased a scooter off of the internet for fun easy transportation to get to and from work.  I was excited to know they only cost about $1000.00.  The day I received my new scooter I was really excited and then soon very discouraged.

 First I had to thank my friends and neighbors from my childhood for teaching me the basics of mechanics because the scooter was in pieces and there were only vague directions written in Chinese.  Two days later I had my scooter assembled and was ready to ride.  It started right up and seemed to be ready for the road until I put down the kickstand and it stalled as soon as the rear tire hit the pavement.  My attempts to restart the scooter were futile. 

 After several days, new gas, several spark plugs and many modifications to the intake and vacuum systems I finally was on the road and riding.  

 A week after getting on the road I went out one morning and found a flat rear tire.  This is when I had my first experience looking for parts and a mechanic to install them. (Actually the sparkplugs I spoke of earlier were not exactly easy to find or install).

 If you own a scooter and have had a flat rear tire, I bet you have spent a lot of cash on fix a flat because changing a rear tire on a scooter practically requires removing the motor.

 After visiting at least ten to fifteen parts stores, motorcycle repair facilities, and many mechanics I discovered that nobody can get parts and nobody will even look at a broken scooter.

 This was the birth of Herndon Scooter.

 At first Herndon Scooter was just a hobby fixing scooters and giving advice to scooter enthusiasts.

 Early 2007 Herndon Scooter became incorporated and the website was born.

 Our mission is simple!

 We do not have a showroom or shop to bring your scooter to.  We come to you!!

 We sell used scooters and can repair and source parts for any scooter.  We pick up your broken scooter.  Get a fair estimate on parts and labor.  Call you with the info.  If you agree on the price we will fix the scooter along with free tune up and oil change and then return your scooter in as close to new condition as possible.  If your scooter is beyond repair we will make you an offer for remaining parts. 

 We can also sell new scooters from our website.  The great thing about buying through our website new is that we also warranty parts and labor which does not happen from other websites. (labor warranty only available in the DC metro area).  We also complete any assembly and begin the break in period which is when most scooters fail.
